Rafting in the Smokies/Pigeon River Outdoors, Inc. - Offering 3-1/2 hour trips; fun for the whole family. No experience necessary. Several trips daily.

USA Raft Nolichucky and French Broad Rivers - Whitewater rafting French Broad and Nolichucky Rivers. The French Broad is a gorgeous free flowing river which will delight even the most seasoned outdoors people. Sometimes spirited, other times playful, the French Broad is always charming and never boring. Water volume is seasonable with the spring thaw bringing big waves and the summer months providing more of a scenic float trip through the Pisgah National Forest. The Nolichucky is sometimes roaring and surging, other times serene and playful, but always beautiful.

Horseback Riding:

Walden Creek Stables - Offering horseback rides, buggy and hay rides, western weddings, bonfire cookouts, picnic facilities, and a western town on over 500 acres, 100 horses and 50 riding cowboys. Bonfire suppers feature gunfights, horse races, fast draws, old fashioned hayride, and singing cowboys.

Enjoy spectacular views year-round from aboard 120 passenger Aerial Tramway.

Great Smoky Mountains Railway - Scenic excursions take you through a beautiful section of western North Carolina with views of the magnificent Great Smoky Mountains, winding rivers, and lakes.

Tennessee Heritage Trails - Tennessee's history is rich and diverse. Historic sites, trails, music, crafts and the arts paint a picture of a colorful state that has seen two centuries of statehood. The Tennessee Heritage Trail has been recently developed by the State in order to highlight the cultural heritage of our people, and numerous Gatlinburg-area locations have been designated as integral stops along the Trail.

A Walk in the Woods - Enjoy the treasures of the Great Smoky Mountains with Naturalists Erik and Vesna Plakanis. Affordable, customized nature walks, overnight trips, shuttle service and more.

Cades Cove - Nature's open-air museum. The Cades Cove Visitor Center is open daily, except in winter when it is open on weekends. Cultural history displays are integrated with sales items. Orientation information is also available.

Bicycles rentals are available from April through October and in December. Horseback riding is seasonally available from near the loop road entrance. Daily hayrides offer another great way to see the Cove. A campground store is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in spring and fall. It remains open to 7:00 pm in summer.
